Little Tikes Recalls 1.6 Million Toys

Little Tikes announced the recalled 1.6 million Workshop Sets and Trucks due to a potential choking hazard from the plastic nails that are included with those toys. The products were recalled after an 11 month old got one of the plastic nails lodged in his throat. It is important to note that the toys were packaged and marked with the recommended age of 2 years and up. The Workshop toys and trucks that included the nails were for children twice the age of the child that tried to swallow the plastic nail. Little Tikes released a statement saying “We realize Little Tikes toys are actively played with in homes where younger siblings reside,” “We must … ensure the safety of not only [the child] for whom the toy is intended, but also other children who may come in contact with the toy.”

This recall is important to all parents even those of us who do not own the effected products; we buy toys for our 5 year olds that are recommended for age 5 and up and that seems perfectly ok. Do we always take into account the younger siblings that may want to join in the activity or the child crawling on the floor who finds those wayward pieces? The question is, do we ban all toys containing small parts even for older children? The Workshops and Trucks were recalled because 2-3 year olds will very often play with their younger friends and sibling and that may pose a problem. When shopping for toys for our toddlers and even our older children it is important to take into consideration the younger children in the household and the way in which the toy is played. Doing so will ensure the safety of all our children and not just the intended user.

Magneatos Intermediate

Guidecraft is discontinuing the Magneatos Intermediate – that includes the Magneatos Intermediate 66 Piece Set and the Magneatos Intermediate Master Builder 170 Piece Set which we still have limited quantities in stock. Get them now while supplies last – they wont be available much longer. If you have an existing set consider expanding it now before it’s too late!

The Intermediate Magneatos pieces are smaller than the Jumbo Magenatos pieces. Magneatos Intermediates are for the more advanced builder with a little more dexterity. The smaller size invites more detailed and intricate designs.

Zach and his friend created a real cool looking robots and a pleiosaurus. Your idea to take apart your creations during the photo shoot is really neat! Way to go!
